21 Oct 07 SPC Morgans Yard Objection Statement
Shedfield Parish Council is objecting to the application for development of land at Morgans Yard, Solomons Lane, Waltham Chase 21/02439/FUL as it is currently proposed.
The site known as WC1 in the local plan has been earmarked for development for many years. In the Local Plan it was decided that 65 houses were to be built and that a piece of land known as WC1a be made available for recreational/ educational use.
Due to heavy pollution at the site, 65 houses were not financially viable. The owners then went back to Winchester City Council planning department. A Secretary of State housing inspector conducted a hearing and agreed 100 houses be built with the provision that WC1a is made available. It now transpires that Morgans Yard does not own the land at WC1a.
Cleanslate Ltd has submitted plans for 98 houses, WC1a has not been included in the application.
Shedfield Parish Council fully accepts that Morgans Yard should be developed to some extent. The current proposal has no commitment to open spaces/ recreational areas. It is a serious over development of the site. Shedfield Parish Council is seeking professional assistance to fight this application.
The village at Waltham Chase needs more areas for recreational use. The school will need more land to expand in the future.
This is a major development, being forced through by planners and developers without any public participation or input.
Between 2011 and 2031, 250 houses were proposed in Waltham Chase. 243 houses have been built or are being built, another 100 will take the village well over the quota and without any infrastructure being built.
It is now time to fight for the future of Waltham Chase village. Please object to this application as it stands today. The 21 day consultation period started on 6 October 2021.
